Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts + Culture

Hosting For the Culture, an interactive conversation + experience which will explore the impact/ influence of hip hop on our lives.

It all started in the Bronx, 1973. Who knew “that hip-hop would take it this far?” On Friday, June 16, in honor of Black Music Month, we have an evening filled with tributes to one of Black culture’s foundational structures, hip hop. Although four hours could never do justice to the immeasurable impact of this nuanced cultural phenomenon, we offer concurrent programming that will feature dance, live music, analysis, conversation, hands-on art, and more. Visit www.ganttcenter.org/calendar for more information. Register to be updated on the evening’s schedule, coming soon. Ages: 21 and up. For parking and directions, click here.
